The Skaarup Group credits part of its success to its strategy of partnering
and joint venturing with major international shippers and ship owners.
In 1990, Skaarup formed a partnership with the major Japanese shipping
company, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. - owners and operators of a large fleet
of bulk carriers. This strategy created a coalition of competitive commercial
and technical advantages capable of responding effectively and rapidly to
bulk shipping challenges and meeting clients’ needs anywhere
in the world.
We are proud of our partnership history. Some of our partners include:
- 1990 - Joint Venture - Mitsui O.S.K. lines Ltd.
- 1990 - Joint Venture - Algoma Central Corp.
- 1987 - Joint Venture - Neldlloyd Bulk B.V.
- 1991 - Joint Venture - Maritime Management Services Ltd.
- 1991 - Partnership - Mitsui (USA) Trading
- Many partnerships with different Chinese companies to staff ship fleets
Responding to the new market trend and increased shift to Asia in the
shipping industry, we have strengthened our presence in Hong Kong and are
focused on developing future business in Asia. As was done with our
Japanese partners, we will continue expanding
our partnership with Asian investors in the fashion of
joint-venture.

Dating back to the late 1950’s, Skaarup spearheaded business
ventures in Hong Kong and Taiwan by setting up offices and employing
Chinese crews. These ventures soon spread into mainland China,
where Skaarup founded a training school for officers in Fuzhou.
Skaarup's long-term engagements in China have have not only produced
well-trained crews, but also have spawned reliable relationships
with prominent partners. With this solid foundation, the Skaarup Group is
enthusiastic about continuing its contributions to the economic
development of China through joint ventures and partnerships.
