Farland Rewarded “QUALSHIP 21”

November 9, 2003

Skaarup Shipping Corporation today received congratulations from L. L. Fagan, commander of U.S. Coast Guard on the recent designation of MV Farland as   a QUALSHIP 21 vessel.

“I applaud the efforts of your company as well as the ship’s master and crew for setting such a high standard of excellence,” said Mr. Fagan, “This is a remarkable accomplishment, less than ten percent of all foreign-flagged ships that operate in the United States have earned this designation, putting this vessel in an elite class.”

QUALSHIP 21, Quality Shipping for the 21st Century, is a program that recognizes quality ships. One of the requirements for a ship’s entrance into the program is that it is registered in country whose U.S. port state control detention rate is less than 1% for the previous three years.

M.V. Farland, while experiencing many random inspections in 2002, resulted in ZERO detentions. Her performance and quality ship management in the past three years earns this recognization of excellence by the U.S. Coast Guard.
