Ole Skaarup Addresses Connecticut Maritime Association (CMA) 2005 Convention

March 24, 2005

Energetic and humorous, as always, a rejuvenated Ole Skaarup addressed the 2005 CMA Convention held March 21-23 at the Westin Stamford Hotel.  Mr. Skaarup, who is Chairman of The Skaarup Group, was keynote speaker during the convention's final banquet and surprised the guest with his musical talent -- something he is less known for than his continuing leadership in the maritime industry.

His recollection of fellow CMA Commodores over past decades was full of wit and admiration, earning bursts of applause and laughter that led the party to a great climax. As a well-respected shipping veteran, one of the founders of CMA, and as the first Commodore honored by CMA in 1990, Mr. Skaarup has witnessed the up and down cycles of the shipping market firsthand.  In his address he wished all his business friends enjoyment of the current upbeat market and the best of luck in the future.

His remarks were met with best wishes for his health and prosperity from the very large crowd in attendance.

The Skaarup Group, headquartered in Greenwich, CT, has provided competitive bulk transportation services to industries worldwide for more than 50 years.  Characterized by the legendary designs by Mr. Skaarup of the first modern bulk carrier and the ocean-going self-unloader, the strength of The Skaarup Group lies in its ability to create innovative and economic solutions to ever-changing transportation requirements.
